Description
Soma Garden is a lush tropical fruit farm and nature hideaway set within the historic Hatton Garden Estate near Marigot on Dominica’s north-east coast. Once part of an old sugar, rum and lime estate, it’s now a small agritourism haven where more than 80 varieties of exotic fruit trees flourish, with a special focus on families like Eugenia, Artocarpus and Plinia.
Visitors are welcomed on guided farm tours by reservation, available for groups with a minimum of 5 adults and a maximum of 25. These tours wind through colourful, shaded pathways past cocoa, mango, pineapple, passion fruit and other tropical crops, while knowledgeable hosts share stories about sustainable farming, how different fruits are used in Dominican cuisine and traditional remedies, and the wider local ecosystem. Tastings of freshly picked, often rare fruits and home-made juices are part of the experience, giving you a real “taste of Dominica’s bounty” straight from the land.
A highlight of Soma Garden is the Mermaid’s Pool – a clear, river-fed natural pool tucked into the greenery, where guests can cool off after walking the trails and fruit orchards. Between the birdsong, the hum of bees and the river running nearby, the whole place feels calm and immersive, making Soma Garden ideal for nature lovers, photographers, foodies and anyone wanting to connect with Dominica’s agricultural side as well as its forests and beaches.
