Perched high above Castle Bruce Bay on Dominica’s wild east coast, Islet View Restaurant & Bar is a charming, rustic stop where dramatic ocean views and laid-back island hospitality come together. Built with natural timber and thatched roofing, and set on breezy verandas overlooking the Atlantic, the restaurant feels like a true Caribbean lookout, the kind of place you stop not just for food, but for the scenery and the atmosphere.

Islet View is known for its “stop-on-the-drive” appeal, making it a popular pause for travellers exploring the east coast. The open-air seating gives uninterrupted views across the bay, with waves rolling below and trade winds keeping things cool and relaxed.

Food is home-style Dominican and Caribbean, prepared in small batches based on what is fresh and available that day. Expect plates such as stewed chicken, grilled fish, callaloo soup, fried plantains, provisions, and fresh fruit, often sourced locally. On Saturdays, Islet View is especially known for its local breakfast, and breakfast is also available by reservation on other days.

The bar is a true highlight. Islet View is famous for its wide range of homemade bush rums and rum infusions, many hand-labelled and served in coconut shells, alongside classic rum punches, fresh juices, and island cocktails.
