Belfast Estate Ltd. is a distinguished rum distillery based in Roseau, Dominica, with a rich heritage dating back to the early 1940s. Founded by Lebanese immigrant Elias Nassief, the company began by revitalizing an abandoned estate to cultivate sugarcane and produce Dominica’s first cane rum, originally named Cask Rum.

Historical Legacy & Rum Craftsmanship

Under the guidance of Elias’s son, Phillip Nassief, the distillery expanded its operations in the 1960s, introducing innovations in rum production. Initially utilizing an 1800s water mill and later a steam mill, the company extracted pure cane juice, which was then distilled, filtered through charcoal, and aged in oak barrels to create a unique blend. As the sugarcane industry declined, Belfast Estate transitioned to using molasses and fermented sugar as bases for their rums.
